Internet in China: What Do Chinese Internet Users Do Online?

China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) just released its latest semi-year report on development of Internet in China. Internet in China: 47 million Bloggers

China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) published the ‘2007 China Blog Survey report‘ recently. The report showed that, by the end of November 2007, China blog spaces have totaled 72.82 million, and the number of bloggers reached 47 million. China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) surveyed 1,862 Internet users in late November. Extrapolating from this group, CNNIC calculated that 47 million Chinese have blogged, more than one fourth of the 180 million people who have surfed the net in China. Intellectual Property: Internet piracy still poses a challenge in China

Yan Xiaohong, vice-minister of the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC), said on Thursday at a press conference that the authorities shut down 339 illegal websites, confiscated 123 servers and imposed fines of more than 870,000 yuan (about 120,000U.S. dollars) on violators. China Web 2.0 Market Reached US$62.8 million

China’s Internet industry continues to be in a state of rapid development. In 2006, the number of Chinese Internet users exceeded 150 million, with 50% of these users between the ages of 18 and 35. China’s Internet market is also transitioning from a narrowband to a broadband market with over 30 million of the 57 million total connected users having broadband access. As an emerging service market, China’s Web 2.0 has shown great development potential and in 2006 the market size reached US$62.8 million. According to IDC’s forecasts, Chinese Web 2.0 market is predicated to reach US$645.8 million by 2011.
