As a world leader in 2D and 3D design and engineering software, the most important contribution Autodesk can make to address global sustainability challenges is to provide customers with innovative technologies. A new tool being developed will help cities manage their greenhouse gas emissions levels […]
There’s an interesting article by Rob Colman in Green Business who chatted with Dan Campbell of the City of Vancouver and Geoff Zeiss about digital cities and how by enabling interoperability between architecture, engineering and construction design models such as BIM, telecom and public works network design, and gaming engines for video games, we can model cities holistically by creating 3D urban models that not only look good but offer the depth of information required to make real decisions […]
Autodesk announced that it has designated Vancouver as the third pilot city of its Digital Cities initiative. A Digital City provides a way for the public, city government, construction and business communities to combine mapping, building, civil engineering, and utility information into an accurate city model that can be used to simulate the future impact of decisions at a city-wide scale […]
Listen as Doug Eberhard, Autodesk Industry Evangelist for Digital Cities, and Pete Southwood, Geospatial Solutions Evangelist at Autodesk, discuss infrastructure modeling, its application, and examples of cities that are using these models to better plan design and deliver proposed infrastructure and urban development projects. Doug will be presenting “Digital Cities—A Model of the Future,” the Geospatial keynote at AU 2008…
Autodesk is helping cities create their next generation base maps as 3D interactive models with technology made possible with the recent acquisition of 3DGeo. These visualizations can explain urban developments and their implications to both city officials and their residents in a new way. Directions Magazine invited Doug Eberhard, Geoff Zeiss, and David Kingsbury to talk about Autodesk’ Digital Cities initiative, and 3D interactive models can help government model, visualize, and realize a sustainable future for cities…
The second day of Autodesk University in China featured several breakout sessions targeted at specific industries. The event also provided a platform for Autodesk to champion for few initiatives toward more efficient, innovative, and sustainable design, like Digital Prototyping, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Digital Cities. For the Digital Cities initiative, AU China brought Doug Eberhard — Sr. Director and Industry Evangelist for the Geospatial Business Unit — to share Autodesk’s vision to create a collaborative environment around intelligent high-fidelity 3D digital models of existing and proposed infrastructure […]
Autodesk today announced it is working with the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) and the Incheon Urban Development Corporation (IUDC) to cooperate in the creation of Asia’s first Digital City for Incheon, Korea — the ‘Tomorrow City’ in Song-do City. Autodesk has designated Incheon as the second pilot city of its Digital City initiative, after […]
Autodesk announced recently that it will be working with the city of Salzburg, Austria, as the first pilot city in Autodesk’s new Digital Cities initiative. The Digital City initiative is Autodesk’s technology designed to provide a collaborative environment for visualizing, analyzing, and simulating the future impact of urban design and development at a citywide scale…
BusinessWeek published a special report on virtual world recently, with one article on virtual World in China which featured Hipihi, Novoking and UOneNet (a.k.a. uWorld). Hipihi has announced the beginning of its public beta testing phase, after over a year private test. uWorld, another virtual world on BusinessWeek’s article which was first profiled in October 2007, finally started its close test in March. As Hipihi, uWorld also partnered with IBM on virtual world development. Kaiser Kuo is more optimistic on it, he thought “deep-rooted MMORPG culture” in China and “willingness of Chinese to strike up online friendships with strangers” will help them in the long run […]
