“Carrying Stones While Sleeping” talk at UX Now 2019

Let’s explore the dynamics of distributed design teams, define some of the problems that these teams meet and discuss some strategies to address these challenges.

If you spend a lot of time on conference calls, or some of your stakeholders are not in the same building (or even in the same time zone) as you, then you are probably working in a big team. With all the excitement of working with people from different cultures comes many challenges in helping the team deliver the best product with the best user experience you can.

In this talk at UX Now 2019, we will explore the dynamics of distributed design teams; we will better define some of the problems that these teams meet and discuss some strategies to address these challenges.

This talk was inspired by an observation that I’ve had over the years that I captured in a previous post: if designers want to influence the decisions that shape strategy, we must become skilled facilitators who respond, prod, encourage, guide, coach, and teach as they guide individuals and groups to make decisions that are critical in the business world through effective processes.

If you don’t have access to the conference video, you can follow this link for more insights on tips for working in Global Teams and to learn some strategies and tools to help improve strategic collaboration while working in Distributed, Remote or Global Environments.
