An increase of 73.3 million compared with 2009, the number of Chinese netizens hit 457 million by the end of 2010, according to the “27th China Internet Development Statistics Report” recently released by the China National Network Information Center.
And the Internet popularizing rate in this country rose to more than 34 percent, five percentage points higher than that of 2009.
The rise of online shopper numbers stands out with nearly 49 percent increase in 2010, and the online shopping has accordingly become the fastest growing Internet application.
The annual growth rate of online payment and online banking exceeded other Internet applications by an increase of nearly 46 percent and more than 48 percent respectively.
In addition, the proportion of medium-sized and small enterprises which accesses the Internet has reached nearly 93 percent, and the relatively large-scale topped 100 percent.
A total of 43 percent of Chinese enterprises have their own websites or established online shops through e-commerce platforms. More than 57 percent of Chinese enterprises communicate with customers and provide advisory services through the Internet. More than 42 percent of medium-sized and small enterprises adopted e-commerce or Internet marketing and more than 21 percent of medium-sized and small enterprises used e-mails, the most popular Internet marketing method.
As the government continues to strengthen the management of the Internet security issue, the problem of Internet security has been obviously improved. However, the situation is still serious. The report shows that in 2010, nearly 46 percent of Chinese netizens encountered virus or Trojan horse attacks and nearly 22 percent of netizens experienced account or password theft.
