Apple will double its store numbers on the Chinese mainland when it opens two stores in Beijing and Shanghai:
Shanghai saw the opening of the second Apple Store in China recently, so my wife and I went out there to check it out.
Please, be advised to not wear skirts while visiting the store: according to Shanghai Daily, one customer on opening day thought men were admiring the architecture of the staircase until she went to admire it too, and then looked up to find out what they were really looking at.
Like any “tourist attraction” in China (yes, nobody is buying), the Apple Store was crowed.
Unless you’re trying to buy an iPad, you might actually get a chance to test the products a little.
The opening of the two new stores is part of Apple’s strategy to open 25 stores in China “as soon as possible,” says Ron Johnson, Apple’s senior vice president of retail: a second Shanghai Apple Store is under construction in Hong Kong Plaza and is rumored to be opening later this summer with a possible third Shanghai store to follow.
