Internet in China: digital advertising spend to rocket
The Chinese love affair with the internet will see digital ad spend increase 40% to $5.2bn (£3.07bn) next year, making the booming Asian online economy roughly the same size as the current UK market, according to a report. The study by KPMG, to be unveiled today at the MediaGuardian Create in China conference in central London, estimates that the total ad spend on all media in the Chinese market will grow by 22% this year and 19.5% next year. e-Commerce in China: dot-com economy grew over 60 percent year on year in the second quarter/2008
China's dot-com economy grew nearly 63 percent year on year in the second quarter, despite increasing inflation and the effects of the Sichuan earthquake, a Shanghai-based research firm reported recently. Internet in China: Google banks on Chinese market
Google expects its position as the world's most popular online search site and sales from fast-growing Asian markets, including China, to help the company weather any United States recession. 'One of the very good sources for Google is the very rapid growth in Asia,' said Eric Schmidt, chief executive officer of Google, which gets almost all its revenue from advertising next to search results. Internet in China: World’s Largest Internet Market
Chinese Web users will spend 45.8 percent more this year on online games and booking hotel and flight tickets, among other services available online: total spending by Chinese Internet users will hit 581.5 billion yuan (US$77.53 billion), said an Internet Society of China report issued recently.
