Living in China: Study finds obesity may be a growing problem among kids in Shanghai
"Researchers are concerned that obesity may become a bigger problem among children in Shanghai after completing a study that found kids here have almost the same average height and weight as those in the United States, Shanghai News Times reported. Internet in China: online shoppers spend 2.3 billion U.S. dollars in 1st half of 2008
"Online Chinese shoppers spent 16.2 billion yuan (2.3 billion U.S. dollars) in 19 major cities in the first half of 2008, China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) said on recently. Living in China: Shanghai’s noise pollution worsens as air, water quality improves
"Water and air quality improved in Shanghai last year, but noise pollution was worse, the city's Environment Protection Administration said. Water quality in the Huangpu River showed signs of improvement for the first time in five years, the administration said in an annual report before Thursday's World Environment Day, according to the Oriental Morning Post. Road noise on Shanghai streets hit an average of 71.9 dB during the day while it dropped to 65.9 dB at night, failing to meet last year's target, the report said..."  read on

Living in China: Shanghai foreigner influx doubles in five years
"The number of expats living in Shanghai and those working in local foreign-invested enterprises almost doubled from 2002 to 2006, according to a Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions report released recently. Autodesk Supports China’s Digital Design Education
"In cooperation with China's Ministry of Education, Autodesk has launched China Student Design Community to provide free digital design tools to Chinese students, in order to support of China's digital design innovation and engineering education. Living in China: Shanghai GDP increases 13.3% in 2007
"Shanghai, the most powerful economic hub of China, achieved GDP of US$1.2 trillion in 2007, up 13.3% from a year earlier, marking a double-digit growth for 16 consecutive years, the Shanghai Statistics Bureau announced recently.
