The second day of Autodesk University in China featured several breakout sessions targeted at specific industries, such as Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC), Manufacturing (MSD), Media & Entertainment (M&E), as well as a number of workshops for specific products, like REVIT for preliminary design phase, presented by Dickson Mak, a and few AutoCAD courses, like the ones presented by Shaan Hurley.

The event also provided a platform for Autodesk to champion for few initiatives toward more efficient, innovative, and sustainable design, like Digital Prototyping, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Digital Cities.

For the Digital Cities initiative, AU China brought Doug Eberhard — Sr. Director and Industry Evangelist for the Geospatial Business Unit — to share Autodesk’s vision to create a collaborative environment around intelligent high-fidelity 3D digital models of existing and proposed infrastructure: Doug showed several examples of how cities around the world — like London, Seattle, and Glasgow to name a few — are already using high-fidelity 3D digital models for decision making support.

Doug also discussed how Autodesk is helping customers to not only create such models by using software like Autodesk LandXPlorer, but also allowing them to make analysis using products like Autodesk Ecotect.
