{ China’s software industry scale ranks 4th in world }
The scale of China’s software industry has reached 583.4 billion yuan, ranking fourth in the world, as learned at the recently held 12th China International Software Expo in Beijing.
The software industry, the core of the information industry, advanced manufacturing and modern services, has now become a basic, pilot and strategic industry for China.
Revenue from the software industry grew to 583.4 billion yuan (nearly 86 billion US dollars) in 2007 from 59.3 billion yuan (around 8.5 billion US dollars) in 2001, accounting for 8.7% of the industry’s global market share; and up 7.5% over the previous share.
